Review on Power Supply Deepcool Explorer DE500 500W
3 min readToday on the review the most affordable power supply from Deepcool DE500 500W.
The budget of this power supply is already seen by the box, it comes in a regular cardboard box with a black print.
From different sides the characteristics of this product are applied. The manufacturer was somewhat cunning, indicating that this power supply is 500 watts, in this case it is only its peak load, in fact its power is much lower.
And so the very completeness looks like this: the power supply itself, the cable and four black screws for mounting in the case. There was no typical Chinese foul smell.
Next, let’s go through the cables. By themselves, they are quite thin and easy to bend. The only 24-pin motherboard cable has a braid; its length is 50 cm.
The processor power cable has a 4 + 4-pin circuit and all the wires come from the power supply, some manufacturers save and additional 4-pin duplicate from the main one. Cable length is 60 cm.
The first accessory cable has 4 connectors – 1 molex and 3 sata, with molex located at the end of the cable. The cable length to the extreme connector is 80 cm, the distance between the connectors is 10 cm.
Second cable add. The equipment has 3 connectors – 2 molex and 1 sata, the sata connector is located at the end of the cable. The cable length to the extreme connector is a 70 cm, the distance between the connectors is 10 cm.
The additional power cable for the video card has a 6 + 2-pin circuit, while here, like most manufacturers, it was saved and the additional 2-pin goes in parallel from the main connector. Its length is – 50 cm.
Next, let’s move on to a little testing.
Test configuration

- Motherboard – Gigabyte GA-P61-S3
- RAM – 1 die on 8gb Crucial 1600Mhz CL10
- Video Card – Gigabyte RX570 4gb Gaming
- Storage – Kingdian 120gb SSD and Samsung 1tb HDD
- The measurements were carried out with a conventional multimeter.
And so with a simple system we have such indicators on a 12 volt line
and such on a 5-volt.
Under load only from the video card we already have the following result:
When the system is fully loaded in the OCCT program, we get such numbers.
The noise level of the power supply fan was also measured. The measurement was carried out at full load from 10 cm from the noise source using the Xiaomi MI6 phone, with Sound Meter installed on it.
These results can be considered acceptable, but it is not known which figures will show, for example, in a year.
And so, this power supply can be bought for a not very demanding and budget assembly, a good alternative to Aerocool VX power supplies, but its budget is felt in everything, since at least they did not save on guarantees, here it is 3 years. If there is an opportunity to pay extra, I advise you to take the DN500 Nova 500W model from the same Deepcool.
