Mini-review on Motherboard ASRock J3355B-ITX
3 min readAn ASRock J3355B-ITX (mini-ITX) motherboard was purchased from an online store. At the time of purchase, the price was slightly less than 67 USD. Why did I buy it? There was an ancient computer that had a Pentium-based motherboard in a huge ATX system unit. As far as possible, I improved it, added as much as possible, according to the requirements of the motherboard, RAM, installed a solid-state hard drive for the operating system. But all the same – it began to glitch and slow down. I decided to assemble a new system unit in a compact size. Since my tasks included surfing the Internet, a test editor + spreadsheets, watching videos on Youtube hosting and online cinemas, a small size of a motherboard in the mini-ITX form factor and an integrated processor are quite enough for this. Immediately I bought a small system unit for a mini-ITX form factor motherboard. A couple of days after placing the order at the point of issue of the online store, a small and not heavy color box was received. The package included the ASRock J3355B-ITX (mini-ITX) motherboard itself in a bag and on a foam softening pad, a plug, two SATA cables in a cellophane package, an instruction manual, a software disc and a corrugated cardboard box.
The motherboard meets the following specifications:
In a small size of 17 by 17 centimeters, a dual-core Intel Dual-Core J3355 processor (up to 2.5 GHz) is installed with support for multi-core processors with an integrated HD Graphics 500 video adapter.
The chipset is built into the processor with a passive cooling system.
Installed UEFI BIOS from AMI.
This BIOS lacks SLI / CrossFire support.
The motherboard has two DDR3 or DDR3L SO-DIMM slots with supported frequencies of 1333-1866 MHz. It is possible to install a maximum of 16 GB of RAM. (at the time of writing the review on the Onlinetrade website, the maximum memory size is indicated: 32 Gb).
The board has two SATA connectors with 6Gb / s speed, there is one PCI-E x16 slot (with PCI Express 2.0 support).
Based on the Realtek ALC887, a 7.1 channel HD codec is installed.
Supports 1000 Mbps Ethernet, based on Realtek RTL8111GR.
At the back there are three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0, there is a COM port and an LPT port, two D-Sub and HDMI video connectors with independent controllers, an RJ-45 LAN connector with speed indicators, two PS / 2 (for keyboard and mouse ). Three tulips: front speakers, line-in, and microphone.
Of the advantages for me, I can note that the motherboard has a built-in processor with passive cooling – the absence of a cooler on the processor is silence when the system unit is operating. The board has the ability to install two 8GB DDR3 / DDR3L memory strips for each slot. I immediately installed an inexpensive Patriot 8GB bar, started immediately without problems, and later I will install another 8GB. Installed a 128GB SATA SSD disk on the system. The operating system Windows 10 is loaded in 20 seconds. It works quietly, quite quickly. Not heated. I am glad about the small size of the case, especially in comparison with the huge ATX.
