The hard drive came in standard packaging for such products. A sturdy cardboard box inside which is a protective transparent plastic case with the device itself, packed in a film. In a separate niche is a cable for connecting to a computer or playback device. The cable is connected to one single connector present on the housing.
The quality of the materials leaves a good impression – the device is pleasant to hold in your hands. It seems to even attract attention. It turned out to be almost perfect performance, both in terms of design and its practical functions. On top, a beautiful stylization was made under a metal coating with a patina, on the bottom and side – white matte plastic.
The dimensions of the device are quite compact, although the disk capacity is simply prohibitive – 5 TB! Smartphones to such an indicator will have to evolve for at least another ten years. But in Seagate BackupPlus Portable 5.0 TB will fit everything that you have accumulated and there will be a good reserve for the future. One film in super high quality and with many audio tracks can “weigh” as much.
Our disk supports USB 3.0 connection. So far, this is the fastest way to transfer data from mass technologies. The speed of writing and reading more than satisfied me. They correspond to standard values for such devices. In this model, volume comes first, not speed. The main thing to remember is that for maximum speed this drive must be connected to the blue USB connectors (USB 3.0).
When copying information to this hard drive, the speed is from 40 to 80 Mb/s, depending on the size of the transferred files. Sometimes the values can be more or less. I liked that a movie of about 20 GB can be rewritten in just a few minutes.
Separately, I want to say about the style of use. As already mentioned, the disc turned out to be compact in its overall dimensions. Therefore, it is convenient to take with you in any bag and even in your pocket. Unlike a flash drive, this drive cannot be subjected to mechanical stress. Therefore, it must be overcome from falls and bumps.
